Dr. Rob Sobhani has published two books on foreign affairs topics, and a third is forthcoming in 2011.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia: A Leader of Consequence (Caspian Publishing, 2010) is a detailed tribute to an important and influential twenty-first-century head of state. In preparing this book, Sobhani traveled to the kingdom five times, meeting with King Abdullah, his close advisers, government officials, scholars, journalists and other Saudi citizens. The result is a volume that should be of value to those seeking to learn more about Saudi Arabia and its visionary king, as well as those who already know the subject well.  The book is enhanced by beautiful photographs and verses from the Quran.

The Pragmatic Entente:  Israeli-Iranian Relations, 1948 to 1988 (Praeger Publishers, 1989) was the first comprehensive work on the long-standing yet ever-changing relationship between Israel and Iran. Drawing on first-hand accounts of individuals involved in Israeli-Iranian relations before and after the 1979 arrival of Khomeini in Tehran, Dr. Sobhani studied this relationship against the complex background of Middle East politics. His interviews with many former Iranian officials revealed why the interests of Iran and Israel converged between 1948 and 1988, and concluded with a discussion of the future Israeli-Iranian relations.
